                                Common Factoring

Common Factoring, is diving out numbers that can be evenly diveded from the given equation.

Steps:

1: Find the Greatest Common Factor of the coeffecients and factor out

2; Factor out the smallest units for the variables

3: Then divide the original to get what it is inside the bracket

For example

12x^3 - 6x^2 y = 6x^2 (2x-y)

The greatest common factor of 12 and 6 is 6

the lower unit for the variable x is x^2

There is no y value in the first expression so y is not factored out
